A FESTIVAL OF POSTCARDS- HQ
An online showcase of the best postcards in the blogosphere!
Ed. Evelyn Yvonne Theriault
is a blog carnival that celebrates both vintage and modern postcards. Each issue features members’ postcards gathered around a certain theme (e.g. Main Street, water, signs, quadrupeds, wheels). Everyone is welcome, from Postcrossers to vintage postcard collectors, from beginners to experienced deltiologists. There’s just one requirement – you must love postcards!
Submit your post here – Feb. 28 – A Festival of Postcards (7th Ed.) Light
It’s Festival Time Again – The Festival of Light!
so this is the perfect time to pull out your vintage postcards or create some original mail art that depicts:
scenes – lit by the moon, neon or … - lights of all kinds – street lights, headlights, lamps etc.
the play of light on … - objects as light as a feather - something that light-ens your heart
- lights your way - or lights your fire!

What is a blog carnival? Why should I take part?
A blog carnival is a sort of virtual magazine created through the collaboration of many bloggers who each contribute one or more blog posts. Once all entries are in, I create an index that includes a small thumbnail photo of your image with a link back to your blog. So, blog carnivals are a great way to connect with other bloggers who share your interests – in this case, postcards!

Hello! I succeeded in leaving the wrong url last time I visited, I’m not entirely sure what I thought I was doing, but fortunately I found the message. I’d be delighted to join in, thank you for inviting me. At the moment I’m away from home, so it will be next week before I can do anything about it, but I will.
I’m going to love this. Now either I have one in my collection (I don’t have a lot of postcards and all mine are RPPCs) or I’ll have to go to an antiques store.
What fun and what a good excuse for a road trip.

P.S.
Forgot to mention that I just bought a Postcard reference book and this will be a great reason to use it!

Excellent idea! I’m not that into vehicles, but I love postcards so I’ll be sure to post something at CanadaGenealogy to celebrate your first Carnival. Luckily, tomorrow is the Vancouver Postcard Club meeting, so if I don’t have a suitable card here, I may find one there!
That’s great, Diane.
Remember thought that the WHEELS connections can be tenuous – for instance, you could have something like a sewing machine or clock (although I confess I’ve never had a sewing machine or clock on one of my cards!!!!), or a postcard from the Wheel of Fortune show – you get the picture (smile). I’m so jealous you’re going to that meeting – have fun.
yay this is fun! I want to join in. will come up with a wheel postcard soon :)

[...] From Imajica!! :D Yes, I sent myself this postcard when I was a short trip to Malacca in 2007. I always love bullock carts.. or “Kereta lembu” how we call it (literally translates to Cow car). It used to be a mode of transportation in the past, but nowadays they just take tourists for a ride around the town square. And see the WHEEL! :) Therefore I can sign up this post for A Festival of Postcards!!! [...]

Thanks for stopping by my blog and yes I will enter a postcard in a few days. I will let you know when.

Can’t wait to participate in this fun-carnival and see all of the other entries. After finding Marie at Cpaphil Vintage Postcards and taking part in her Postcard Friendship Fridays, I was hooked. Postcards are such fun!
Hi, I’m Ya-Chu. I read your comment in my blog, I’m glad to participate in this festival!

Hello Dragan,
I just clicked on your Slovenian link – that’s also a really unique set of cards – and rare than a German one.
May I use those as your entry in the Festival?

Hi Evelyn and fellow postcard enthusiasts, here is a link to my post, hope you like it, the picture is not brilliant but the message on the back is superb (but a little sad)

Hi Evelyn :: I FINALLY finished my entry — which highlights the 19th-century steam side-wheeler, Mt. Washington, whose huge paddle wheels were driven by a single-cylinder steam engine. As usual, I also make mention of the connection of the Mt. Washington to my ancestors. Thank you for doing this!

Hi Evelyn !
Thanks for your comment on my blog. This carnival may be very nice, so I want to take part to it. On my blog, there is only front of postcards, but, especially for you, I’ll scan backs of some cards in few days.
Have a nice week-end !
Merci, Sophie!
Envoie-moi ton permalink (url) pour la carte postale que tu veut presenter dans le prochain Festival et je vais l’enregistrer!

Hi Evelyn,
Thanks a lot for your comment on my blog. I really liked the postcard of the frog too. I was really refreshing.
Waiting for the next issue of the Festival of Postcards.
Abhishek
Hi Evelyn,
Thanks for reminding me of this month’s festival! I have submitted mine at The West Begins in West Texas.
Judith
Great! Thanks!
Hi Evelyn,
I’ve submitted my entry today. Good luck for the new issue of the carnival.
Abhishek
Hi Mrs.Theriault, your site is really cool. Oh and by the way high school is awsome!!!
I’m glad to hear it – and I’m not surprised because you were really ready for high school. You should go over to All Things Quebec to see what the new group is doing.
Tell all your friends!
Mrs. Theriault
[...] Last Saturday I came away with seven cards, which is more than usual, but it probably reflects the fact that I spent longer there than normal. Five of those cards have a family connection, which you will probably be seeing in the next couple of weeks. The other two I got because they appealed to me (places I have been walking) and they are also both possible contenders for the upcoming Festival of Postcards. [...]
I have written about Big Bruce at http://researchergal.blogspot.com/2009/10/big-bruce.html

Well, I did poorly getting myself organized for the October festival! I see that “White” is the theme for December and I’ve made a note to myself. “White” ought to be a bit of a challenge!
I hope you are well. :)
Quite well, Lydia, and I loo forward to seeing you in the December “White” Festival!
As it was I didn’t get any Oct entry in. Just involved in so many things. Will do better for December when it will be too cold to RV.
I look forward to it, Judy!
This sounds just great. I’ll have to look for a card for the next carnival. White should indeed be a challenge.
Hi – I’ll be giving the details soon but in fact any black/white card will do!
Evelyn
I too have been thinking ‘White’. Mulling over some choices – but I will wait to see the details! Off to a postcard show today though so I may find something ‘new’.
I added the Festival of Postcards widget to my blog a while ago. Just noticed that it is not updating with the correct current and future festivals. Is this happening on other blogs too? I will probably remove the widget if it keeps showing obsolete dates.

Submission for the Festival of Postcards 6th Edition: White
I tried the other entry form above but it would not work for me. So Here is my entry for the theme of White. Thanks Evelyn for sponsoring this. I missed the last one. This entry is on my blog.
Judy
Thank you, Judy. The entry form seems to be working on and off. On certain days I’ve received multiple entries through the official form, while on other days I get messages like yours. For me the form always works but it’s possible that’s because I,m an administrator.
I have submitted a very tiny “White Christmas” card: http://www.wildpostcards.com/2009/12/dreaming-of-a-white-christmas/
Thank you, Chris. I’ve looked at this a few times and was wondering whether you were planning to submit it to the December Festival!
Hi Evelyn – It was a pleasure to get your comment about the orangutans post, and a pleasure also to have a chance to visit here and see what’s going on (which is an enormous amount of good things it looks like, and it is going to take me some serious time to peruse all this, for it is quite wonderful!).
I would be honored to have you include the post in your next Festival, thanks!
Looking forward to reading and learning from your great site here,
Karen
Hi Yvonne,
I entered the latest Carnival of Postcards (“white”) but did not receive an acknowledgment, so don’t know if the entry went through. I hear some of the Carnivals were having problems with this but of course I might have goofed up. Just wanted to let you know my entry is the latest post on my blog as of today. What a great interest you have aroused!

Hi Evelyn,
I just posted my “white” postcard ~~ and am on my way to follow the link to register officially for the festival. This is the first time I’ve used that submission form, so wish me luck! From other comments ahead of mine it appears that I should be looking for a registration confirmation.

Hi, there – my Graveyard Rabbit of British Columbia submission is up now at: Cemetery Pt., Shoal Lake, Manitoba – A Festival of Postcards
I’ll submit it though BlogCarnival too (but I’m wary of BlogCarnival right now).

Hi,
I posted a few British Columbia postcards – British Columbia – A Festival of Postcards
What a great idea! I found this site after reading your initial introduction post on PostcardCollector.org
This seems to be the postcard journal I have been looking for!
