I rec’d your card before I left St. J. June 21st but was waiting for a letter. I am having a dandy time. Was to the “Cannon Ball” last night. Had’nt heard form Annie since I left St.John. Hope you are well & enjoying yourself. Write soon to your true friend Myrtle Dearton (?)

Historical Notes:

Today Saint Leonard, New Brunswick  is connected to Van Buren, Maine by the Saint-leonard-Van Buren (1972) bridge which replaced an earlier bridge (1911), which in its turn replaced the cable ferry which you see above.

St Martin (Ile de Re) – La Citadelle de les Forcats attendant leur depart pour la Regne


Andre Mignier dit Lagace’s parents Michel Mignier and Catherine Masson were from St Martin de Re (Aunis), Poitou. Andre Mignier and his wife Jacquette Michel are the progenitors of the Lagaces/Migniers of North America. I descend from this couple through my Lagace mother.

Marysville is on the site of the original Acadian/Maliseet settlement of Ste-Marie which was destroyed by the British Colonel Robert Monckton in 1758. Today’s Marysville is part of Fredericton, New Brunswick.
