St Basile NB – Wire/Cable Ferry Boat (1915)

Detail of horse-drawn cart on ferry

I found some information about this image at the site of the St-Basil Archives des Religieuses Hospitalieres. Apparently this ferry connected St-Basile to St-David and it belonged to Dolphis Daigle. Several Acadians had connections to this ferry including – Willie Theriault, Paul Clavet, Regis Cyr and Francois Vaillancourt. The ferry lost traffic after the opening of the Edmunston Bridge and was finally closed in 1921.
