Lagace/Mignier Marriages – A Canadian Family Tree (2) | Lagace/Mignier, Calixte to Evariste
This is the 2nd in a series of posts in which I share marriages extracted from my database (A Canadian Family) where the groom was a Lagace/Mignier who descended from the Quebec pioneer couple Andre Mignier dit Lagace (Soldier of the Regiment Carignan) and his wife, the “fille du roi” – Jacquette Michel.

Lagace/Mignier Marriages – A Canadian Family Tree (1) | Lagace/Mignier, Abraham to Bruno
This is the first in a series of posts in which I share marriages extracted from my database (A Canadian Family) where the groom was a Lagace/Mignier who descended from the Quebec pioneer couple Andre Mignier dit Lagace (Soldier of the Regiment Carignan) and the “fille du roi” – Jacquette Michel. The focus is on Quebec marriages from 1668 to 1921 in which the 20th century descendants carry the LAGACE surname (as opposed to Mignier or Meunier) You will also find a scattering of New Brunswick, Ontario and U.S. marriages.
As I have discussed elsewhere, the “Lagace/Mignier cluster of surnames is very problematic for those who are new to Quebec genealogy. It is very common to find a given individual listed, for instance, as a Lagace/Mignier, a Mignier/Lagace, or just Lagace, or a variation of those names (e.g. Lagasse, Minier). In this database the surname was standardized to Lagace / Mignier.
1. SURNAMES They have been standardized and dit names and alternate spellings are frequently included.
2. NAMES The forenames of Joseph or Mary (Marie) have been dropped.
3. LOCATIONS Place names have been standardized to reflect Quebec’s current nomenclature and are placed in their respective administrative regions. Beginners take note: Many genealogists use only the original, documented place names. You’ll need to decide what’s best for you.
4. MORE INFORMATION My database also contains : the parents of the female spouses and the parishes where the marriages below took place. You can contact me by leaving a question in the comment box below.
