I’m from the same family tree. His son Paul Kelly was my great grandfather. I also have photos of scar face. My mother has the bear necklace in this photo here in Kahnawake (formerly known as Caughnawaga).

Signs Of The Times | Kahnawake Today
Earth’s heritage languages – including those of North America’s First Peoples - have been disappearing at an accelerating pace around the world. Although this may part of a natural evolution as different cultures and languages fight for survival, it’s a tragedy for us all when a language disappears because we forever lose certain ways of thinking about the world. The people of Kahnawake have been fighting against this for several decades through different measures such as the introduction of Mohawk language education for children and adults. One encouraging sign of this important preservation work, is the amount of Mohawk one sees on signs around Kahnawake. (Photos. 2010, E.Theriault)
