The First Commandment Of Computer Based Research – Backup! Backup! Backup!
Throughout 2009 I’ve been regularly reading Thomas MacEntee’s exhortations to back up all of our valuable genealogy and family history research. Have I been doing it? Yes and no. I’ve been relying on an off-again/on-again little sytem that copies my information onto another server but after reading some articles on the subject I realized that I wasn’t actually certain that this sytem would work in the case of some cyber-catastrophe!
Well, I must have been a very good girl this year because GeneaSanta brought me a very special gift – an HP External Hard Drive! Is it installed yet? No, of course not – I give new meaning to the term “procrastination” – but my techie-hubby will be taking care of it later this week!
Thank you for all the nagging, Thomas!

WOW! I have one of those external hard drives–they’re WONDERFUL! I don’t know what I’d do without mine. (Grin) It is a great way to keep things safe.
How cool that you have one now!!!
Well, I’m a step ahead of you, but only just. The drive is installed but I need to work out an easy way to do some backing up. And then do it.
