My maternal grandmother was Mary Martha Doucet born in 1898 in Bathurst, NB. Per my mother, I know there were approx 5 children in the family. All females had the first name of Mary, and I believe they were generally addressed by their middle name. There was only one brother, Simon. I would much like to learn the name of her parents and any other info on the family. Mary Martha Doucet married in Canada and emigrated to USA in 1925. I am 52 y/o and live in Louisiana, USA.

Thank you for your message, Lina, and the information.

In my case my problem was never with the furthest back Acadian lines for which I have researched in Stephen White's Dictionnaire, but with the connection from my branch to the main line. Since writing this post I have successfully made that connection wtih the help of a branch that is closely related to mine.

Thanks for the heads up about Mrs. Rosalie Guitard, however I removed her email address for privacy reasons. It can only be listed if she approves, because "spam bots" may pick it up and then bombard her with unwanted mail!

Thanks again,
Evelyn

Hi,

The best Acadian geneologist is Mrs. Rosalie Guitard from Petit Rocher, New Brunswick. Here is her email (Note from Evelyn: removed for privacy - contact Lina for further information)

Essentially, what I have learned is that Germain Doucet was the first Doucet in Canada. Germain had 2 sons who created the 2 lines of Doucet in Canada (now descendants are not related).

But Rosalie can tell you the whole story!

Good luck,
Lina Doucet
(Bathurst New Brunswick)
