  2. Looks modern enough to me. Those wheels might have come off my Radio Flyer!

  3. Do you know the age of the postcard? The clothes and hair look like the mid 50′s – but I’m basing that on the US mid 50′s.

  4. I just visited Eddy’s blog and wrote that you would be excited to see his post because of the previous dog carts you have posted! I clicked over here and saw that you posted about them today too! What a lovely coincidence:)

  7. Pauvre chien !
    Devenir le jouet des enfants n’est pas la meilleure place;
    Mais peut-être qu’il s’amuse après tout ?

  8. That is so cute! Is Gaspe in Canada? I will go look it up – don’t feel as if you need to answer!

  9. What a wonderful image! A shame we didn’t live on a farm and have dog carts when the boys were little… it just looks like too much fun! Hope your Easter is beautiful…

  13. THIS BRINGS BACK GREAT MEMORIES. THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN IN BARACHOIS, GASPE COUNTY, QUE IN THE MID FIFTIES. THE HOUSE IN THE BACKBROUND IS OUR HOME IN WHICH I WAS RAISED. OUR FAMILY MOVED TO TORONTO IN 1961. WE STILL HAVE OUR HOME AND USE IT EVERY SUMMER.THE KIDS WITH THE DOG ARE MY THIRD COUSINS.

    • This is so exciting, Al! I can’t believe I’ve actually heard from someone in one of my postcards and how wonderful it is that you are still connected to that house!

  14. Al,I’d love to know a little bit more if it’s something you’d like to share.
    1. Was the dog also used for work, or was it simply a companion dog for the children?
    2. Was the dog cart built by someone in the family? Do you think the dog cart was from the mid fifties or an earlier generation.
    3. I imagine this was a card for tourists. Was the card produced by your family – or were they simply depicted on the card?
    4. And finally, if this is not an invasion of privacy, can you tell me whether Cotton is the surname connected with this home?
