TECHNORATI for Technophobes

technorati-redesigned1What’s a Technorati?

Technorati is a search engine like Google -

but it specializes in blogs.

Technorati has millions of blogs in its directory.

Your blog is probably already there.

So why bother joining ?

It’s easy!      It’s free!      It can’t hurt!

It takes only a few moments to claim your blog,

then you can –  edit your profile = check for errors or even FAVE some blogs .

How do you join?

Click on the green Technorati  button in the right sidebar and you’re on your way!

More Advanced Technorati Fun

Here’s two more ways to support your very favourite blogs:

1.)   Link to the blog by including the blog’s url in one of your posts.

Technorati wants to promote the idea of blogs as vehicles for conversation. It’s counting on the fact that over time “birds of a feather will flock together”  and create networks of “conversations” around certain topics. It’s tracking these “conversations” in the blogosphere by measuring the links between our sites. So bloggers linking together in an ethical and responsible way are basically mapping the blogosphere. Wow – POWER TO THE BLOGGERS!!!

2.)  You can leave a mini-review on the Technorati Profile of the blog you want to support.

All you need is a note or two about why you would recomment the site (what stands out). Technorati has rules about this. They don’t want a full site description. They want honest and succint comments to guide other potential readers.

Here’s my first Technorati mini-review -

The Pig Killers

JoLyn’s site is chock full of carefully crafted family history stories – each illustrated with vintage photographs. But what JoLyn does especially well are her titles. Yes – her titles! Her site’s worth a visit just to read the left sidebar (e.g. The Pig Killers)

  2. Hi Evelyn,

Thanks for alerting us to Technorati. I visited the website and was very impressed so I joined and as you say it is free and we’ve more to gain than we have to lose by joining.
