Please accept my rewrite? As a writer,I cannot stand errors in my work. For years, I was ashamed of my french heritage. My father --- Theriault from Sayabec Quebec, was a man of ill repute. Known in his home town as “The Bandit” due to his penchant for crime, he eventually moved to Toronto, Ontario, where he met and married my mother, --- Pedersen of Coppenhagen Denmark. I was born July 24,1958 at Woman’s College Hospital in Toronto. My younger brother Michael and I became wards of the Roman Catholic Children’s Aid Society when I was 5 and contact with my parents was brief until I returned to Toronto at age 15, at which time my parents were long-since divorced. Points of interest: I began playing the guitar at age 9. By 11, I was playing and singing in a band and had written my first song. I soon after taught myself the piano. I play by ear, have what is known as perfect pitch and a perfect sense of rhythm. I am now 52 and while I struggle on a disability pension due to petit mal epilepsy, Thanks to technology, I am an independent recording artist, so you can imagine how surprised I was to find out about Nicole Theriault. I wonder if we are possibly related. Also, My wife, Lorraine and I discovered many years after we were married that (a) We are both Metis and both of Mí’kmaq heritage and (b) Lorraine’s aunt and my father went to the same school house and church in Sayabec. Also, by the very nature of Acadian, as is our name, on my father’s side I am French, Irish and Mí’kmaq. I am also certain I have family in St. John’s Newfounland and even went on souljourn there. I may get vertigo on a swing, but I ran to the sea and my sail from North Sydney Nova Scotia to Port aux Basques Newfoundland was wonderful and familiar to me, as was the return sail homeward bound to my Dear Lorraine! She is mostly responsible for turning my anti-french attidude into a swelling pride for it. After all, She is Scottish, Irish, Mí’kmaq and yes, very much french too! And I love her dearly! So for a multitude of reasions, I celebrate that I am a Theriault. I’m known in the music industry as René Swan, and have been since I was 15. By the way, on my mother’s side, it is doccumented that my third great uncle was Danish children’s author, Hans Christian Andersen. Question: Can you explore the possibility of any connection between Nicole and I and or any other relatives I may have out there? Would you be so kind as to e-mail me a reply? Thank You, René Swan Theriault
