1. I think it is fascinating that you still have documents leading to the 18th century. In this modern world a lot of family roots seem to vanish… It is a great effort to preserve them. Best wishes

2. That’s true. In most places there have been wars or natural disasters that have destroyed church or secular institutions where the documents are usually kept.
   This is the case for my Acadian lines because Acadians were expelled from Acadie (Nova Scotia) in the 18th century. In the case of my French Canadian lines I’m luckier because much of the documentation still exists.

3. I’m in the process of re-tracing back my Lagace roots (fixing the ancestry of my great-great grandmother Ciriane Céleste Sarah Anne LAGACÉ, the first wife of François-Xavier Roy.

   According to posts by Val d’Or Lagace in GenForum, she was the daughter of (Louis) Francois Lagace and Mathilda Boudreau. I haven’t found any on-line record proof yet of Sarah’s connection to these parents, but if correct, your posts on this line have been a big help since we share a common line from this point
