1. I wrote the text in the Chazy Lake, NY King collection of pages for the derivation of Sullivan King’s name where you recently left a comment. You may have noticed his wife’s name was mentioned, Mary Miller or Marie Meunier in French. She is a descendant of André Mignier dit Lagacé. The surnames Miller and Legacy are quite common in Clinton County, NY. I was given a copy of the map you have on this page when I was in La-Pocatière last summer and was told that if you descend the street behind Ste-Anne’s Church the son Michel’s land was about where the Caisse Desjardins office is found, and André’s land was near the stone cross on top of the rock formation further down avenue Painchaud.

2. Greetings,
   Thank you so much for this information. I haven’t really spent much time in Riviere-Ouelle. I was there for 3 or 4 hours on my way back from a “fact-finding mission” in northwestern New Brunswick and the Paspebiac area of the Gaspe. I plan to visit Riviere-Ouelle again and I ll really enjoy going back to the neighbourhood you ve described.
   Thanks also for information that there are many Miller-Lagaces in Clinton County. I had noticed the Millers in the USA census returns but I wasnt sure that they were from the Mignier Meuniers or some other branch. Thanks for the info!

3. My grandfather was from Riviere-Ouelle, his name was Alphonse Ouellet and my grandmother was Alma Plourde, they were married in Rivere-Ouelle. My last visit to Riviere-Ouelle was in the early 1960′s, I remember visiting the farm and I hope to one day return to to area. All of my relatives are deceased; so it has been difficult gathering information, but I still have that very strong desire to learn more about my relatives and return to the area.

4. Thank you so much for your information about Riviere-Ouelle! I am new to genealogy, working on my family tree through ancestry.com, and have found that many of my ancestors come from Riviere Ouellette- the Ouelle, Lizot, Pelletier, Langlois, and Soucy families. To find information about their community is wonderful!

I enjoyed visiting your site, I caught the genealogy bug a few years ago and traced my mothers family (Pelletier) back to Jean and Anne (Langlois), I descend from his son Jean and Marie Anne Huot- St. Laurent. I noticed both these families, on the land grants at Riviere Ouelle which you kindly posted and recognized other names from my Quebec ancestry, I’d love to have a copy of that image !

   I would also love a copy of the image. I am descended from the Pelletier, Ouellet, Lizot and Hudon Beaulieu families.

   It’s worth noting for those that are interested, that Angelina Jolie is a direct descendant of Noel Pelletier, and that Madonna is a direct descendant of Joseph Ouellet (they are both cousins of mine as a result). So a fun little intersection of celebrity genealogical history in that regard.

   I would love to know if there is a link between the name Ouellet and the River Ouelle, and exactly how that worked out.

     For what concerns the connection between the Riviere Ouelle and the Ouellet name,I have it in my head but I’d rather recheck my original source before passing it on. I’ll get back to you later.
     Thank you for mentioning the Jolie/Madonna connections. I had come across them mentioned somewhere but you’re right, it’s a fun little tidbit!

8. I have not had much time to spend on genealgy, but I am still looking for information on Ouellette from Riviere-Ouelle. My grandfather was Alphonse Ouellette who married Alma Plourde. My last contact was with Rene Ouellette and Celou(?)Ouellette in the late 60′s in Riverie=Ouelle. My relatives are all deceased, so it gas been difficult to gather any information.

9. Am very interested in the Ste. Anne de la Pocatière, Rivière-Ouelle, St. Roch des Aulnais area because so many of my ancestors come from there.

   Incidentally, I am also a descendant of André Mignier dit Lagacé thru his son, André, and young André’s son, Bernard, and Bernard’s daughter Marie-Louise Mignier married to Armand Lizotte.
