A Canadian Family M-Line: Eveline Melvina Luce

An M-line is a lineage built by beginning with a woman and tracing her line back mother-to-mother.  As a result, the surname changes with each generation. This is a big trend right now, especially with the advent of genetic genealogy which allows both men (through their mothers) and women to trace their bloodlines through their mtDNA.

  5. Bonjour Gisele,

  6. Hello, my name is Ray ROY and I just had my genealogy completed by my cousin Michele Doucette from Newfoundland. My native blood lines are through Robichaud,Mallet, and Duguay, and all these lines go back to Margurite Caplan. Victorin Mallet and Barbara Zack are also my cousins their mtDna results are that of haplogroup C.
I have a book on Micmac culture done by Ruth Holms Whitehead called Elitekey. There is a picture in it that is almost Identecal to the one you have on the top of your page. Would love to hear from you if you have Time. Thank you Ray

  7. Happy to have found your site…it is wonderful….looking at all the names it appears we are distant cousins with many connections.

Just glancing I see a connection to the Anglehart line and also to the Guitar(d) as my gr-grandmother was Philomene Guitar daughter of Francois & Olive Chamberlain

    keep the good work up!

  9. Hello. A cousin of mine is doing some genealogical research and believes that Marguerite Caplan is an ancestor of our grandfather Abraham Duguay. It is a little confusing because my grandfather’s mother’s (Angelique Denis Duguay)paternal grandfather and her maternal grandmother were siblings who were the grandchildren of Marguerite Caplan! PHEW!! Marguerite’s mother is referred to only as “INDIENNE AMERINDIENNE’”born in 1680. The last poster stated they were married in 1725, but we have Marguerite’s birthday as 1698. Any more recent information?

    • OOPS, meant to say that my grandfather’s mother’s paternal great grandfather and her maternal great grandmother were siblings who were the grandchildren of Marguerite through her daughter Madeline.
