A Canadian Family Headstone: LUCE Philip – 1892

This is the final resting place of our direct ancestor Philippe Luce who married Anne Ward on May 4th, 1863 in Grande-Riviere (Perce)  Quebec, Canada.  Their son George Luce (Lewis) and daughter-in-law Clementine Desilva were my grandparents.

Philippe Luce and Anne Ward’s children included the following: George H., Philip Charles, Elie Jean, Francois, Thomas, Ann Elizabeth, William.

Philippe’s parents were Elie Luce and Elizabeth Sorsoleil from St-Helier, Jersey Channel  Islands and Philippe was born there on July 29th, 1826.

He  died in 1892 in Miscou and this is his tombstone is in Petite-Riviere-de-L’Isle Cemetery in Gloucester County, New Brunswick.

    I live in Toronto but was born in Montreal. I have a book of genealogy starting with Philip Luce that was created by Thomas W. Luce of Osoyoos, BC
    Wondering if you have the same reference book of if your data comes from another source.

    • Hi David,
      No I wasn’t familiar with that book and wouldn’t mind ordering it. I have a variety of sources and will contact you over the weekend with more info. I’m in my first few days of a new school year and brain is not in gear in the evenings!

    I am the daughter of Melvin Luce… my grand-father was William Luce. I live in Chateauguay, Quebec and my parents live in Chateauguay, Quebec and are both still alive.
    My grand-mother was Margaret Watson who was married to William Luce. I have a geneology report from B.C. also. If I can help in anyway, please contact me.
